Pongsapat rejects governor rumour

Deputy national police chief Pongsapat Pongcharoen denies he has been approached by the Pheu Thai Party to run in the Bangkok governor election due to be held on Feb 17.

Pol Gen Pongsapat was responding to speculation that he would be picked by Pheu Thai to run in the gubernatorial election when MR Sukhumbhand Parabatra's term as governor expires on Jan 10.

He said Pheu Thai had not approached him.

Just goes to show, PTP are in disarray and at a loss to find a suitable candidate for this tough job. They put out mixed messages, the individuals themselves then come out an deny knowledge or interest, basically there's a 'wish list' and reality that most these potential candidates realise they are being begged to take on a severe underdog position. Bangkok is a Democrat stronghold, and though it's not a done deal, PT well know that this province cannot be bought, hoodwinked or fooled with populist promises.

Although this is still just a rumour, one has to wonder why PTP, who claims to combat corruption, more often than not chooses it's candidates from the police, which is arguably the most corrupt institution in the country :-)

the final piece of the jig saw for pm taxsin,we all hope the bangkokian will come out and vote, unlike in the general election, were appathey, caused a surprise,to elect this graft fuelled regime, but hey you can never be surprised, the power of the dollar, too many police chief and army turncoats have risen in politics,a conflict of interest

RE: D4....The PT party is likely considering several candidates, and have discussed it with many before they decide who to field....The politicians being considered can not publicly say they are interested, or they loose face if they are not the pick....This is true world wide...not only in Thailand. But having said that he did not say he would turn down the offer.....did he?

..."Pol Gen Pongsapat said the project was intended for the people and had nothing to do with politics.>> LOL and LOL... in red and Dubai terminology this means; "The taxpayers money will be used to pay off the reds, buy voices and has EVERYTHING to do with the Fugitive's politics">>>

Thai police again! The whole police institution is already so shitty and the top man could still meddle with politics. The police should know that the whole Thailand's reputation was significantly damaged by them especially in the tourism industry. Anyway, everybody knows that a revamp of the police system would never materialize in our time. Enough said.

If he is indeed a candidate, he is using state time, money and property to showcase his 'performance'. And honestly after seeing Thaksin and Chalerm (both ex-police) do we want to induct one more police into the administration. Bangkok, stay with the Democrats they are at best 'harmless' - no hidden agendas and corrupt practices. The reds might have their shouts but, did they every stop shouting?

At this rate, Thailand will soon become ThakShin incorporate. Just a few more pieces to fix into this puzzle and the take over will be completed.

Have been reading BK Post for about 5 years now!
have been visiting Thailand for 12 years,
What I have noticed in the last last 12 months, someone send rumour out,
    watch reaction from whom ever?
Everyone associated with rumour deny it!
Anytime soon after it is reality!
If you could catch fish as simple as Thai rumour,
I would become a professional fisherman.
I can't believe how people can so easily be played.
My conclusion on how most rumours are, firstly you project it,secondly you watch the reaction, thirdly if little resistence you proceed with caution, & last but not least, if high level of resistance you postpone.
