Pongsapat rejects governor rumour

Deputy national police chief Pongsapat Pongcharoen denies he has been approached by the Pheu Thai Party to run in the Bangkok governor election due to be held on Feb 17.

Pol Gen Pongsapat was responding to speculation that he would be picked by Pheu Thai to run in the gubernatorial election when MR Sukhumbhand Parabatra's term as governor expires on Jan 10.

He said Pheu Thai had not approached him.

This is a good decision, but this story came out from a PT party source on 30th Nov. Why did it take him two days to deny it? Looks like a typical PT trial balloon to see what the reaction might be. Obviously less than enthusiastic so the idea is dropped and the search goes on. Looks like nobody in PT/UDD relishes the idea of facing the incumbent - I wonder why given all they have said about him?

Similar modus to premiership football management these days. Today the club confirms their support for the underfire manager, tomorrow he's got his marching orders.

And if in the end he will run for governor, today's statement will have been a honest mistake, a wrong translation, a white lie or whatever excuse. Or he will have changed his mind for the sake of the country or family. What ever the excuse will be.
What can one believe from this side of the color spectrum?
Better don't read or speculate about it.

This denial absolutely confirms that Pongpasat will be the governor candidate. Shame there is no blood relative like Chaisit or Banapot available for the post though.
