Dems to seek NACC probe on rice

The Democrat Party will submit evidence and documents highlighting alleged irregularities in the rice pledging scheme to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on Monday.

Democrat list MP Ong-art Klampaibul said on Sunday that he and Warong Dejkitvikrom, Democrat MP for Phitsanulok, will represent the opposition party in seeking help from the anti-graft agency to probe the case.

The evidence included no rice having been sold to China under a government-to-government (G-to-G) contract.

It looks like the Red Shirt supporters here would rather everyone turns a blind eye to the rice scheme corruption.

Discussion 6: While the NACC is independent, the members know that if they make a decision against the government, one or more of them will get "promoted" to another position in the government. Personally, I think that the committee will give a just decision as the members must be very annoyed with the interference during their recent investigation of government corruption. Also, Thaksin knows he can't get away with "promoting" the members every time they try to do their job.

tomo #2 Give it a rest, having a majority does not allow for stealing the country blind. Evidence will be provided. Wrap it up with your blind loyalty, it has no value in a real democracy.

G2G and G2B contracts are usually bound by non-disclosure agreements. The government cannot simply disclose the deal details just because the Dems are curious.

If the Dems have any evidence supporting their allegations, they should send them to the media and let the public have an idea of the corruption that this government is allegedly participating in. Why wait?

Oh wait.. the dodgy folks could not even submit it during the censure debate and their evidence was based on dreams. No wonder they are fiddling with legal technicalities again!

Tomo D2: You seem to have gobbled too many cliches from the reds and their protectors. You're in complete denial. May I suggest you to carefully listen to both sides before drawing conclusions.
The Dems only compared figures and documents gathered from various ministries involved. The numbers just don't add up. If only half the evidences shown by the Dems are real, it clearly proves that this government and the people involved in the rice pledging scheme are shamelessly plundering the country.

Just an obvious question but haw independent is the NACC.It would appear to an outsider there could be a problem hear and if it finds foul play why should the ruling party abide by its decision.By there own admission they lie.

Are the Dem doing any work to help better the country such as trying to sell some rice. Futhermore how can you loose money on rice stockpiled and not sold. Another thing to remember is who is actually buying this rice anyway. Answer the people of Thailand with their taxes. Where do you think the government gets the money to buy from the farmers. The Democrats are only worried about the money not the peoples welfare.
