SET rises by 0.59 point

Thai stocks edged up on Monday on an otherwise mixed day for markets in Asia except Japan, where the Nikkei surged following the decisive election victory of the Liberal Democratic Party on Sunday.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand Index rose 0.59 points from Friday to close at 1,359.09. Turnover was 35.04 billion baht, with 8.56 billion shares traded.
Foreign investors were net buyers of 1.29 billion baht worth of Thai shares and local institutions bought 72.3 million. Local brokers were net sellers of 493.6 million baht and individual investors sold 867.7 million baht more in shares than they bought.
