DSI weighs third 2010 death ruling

The Department of Special Investigation is waiting for a copy of a court ruling on the 2010 death of a third red-shirt protester to consider whether to proceed with it, DSI chief Tarit Pengdit said.

The South Bangkok Criminal Court's  ruled on Monday morning that Chartchai Chaolao, a taxi driver from Surin province, was hit by a bullet fired from a line established by security forces on Rama IV Road on May 13, 2010.

But it was not known who fired the fatal shot, the court said in the ruling requested by the DSI.

I guess Thailand has never heard of ballistic tests. Of course if you shoot someone the guns you used come up as missing or stolen somehow. How convenient.

D3: Soldiers performed their duty to clear the area from these terrorists occupying Bangkok's business district for weeks and torching buildings. Maybe there were some peaceful demonstrators. But they weren't forced to be there and had sufficient time to leave the spot.

Mr Tarit, when will it sink in that you WERE ALSO part of the CRES, in your top DSI position you did not merely kept the coffee coming in the meetings, you were part of the decision making teem. How can you sleep at night? This is not a little white lie sir, this is plain lying and misleading.

"The DSI chief also called on members of the Democrat Party not to impede his agency from doing its duty." The DSI is not doing its duty. This is the problem. The DSI should carry out their work independent and establish the facts. Instead the South Bangkok Criminal Court ,Police and the DSI are doing "guesswork" for the government.

Why are the red shirt haters so surprised? For others it has been evident the military shoulder a large portion of the guilt.

    - soldiers used only rubber bullets (the general)

    - the people ran into the soldiers' bullets (Suthep)

    - the soldiers never attacked; we only set up check points, the red shirts attacked them; and then there was fighting in the streets (Abhisit)

If you want to claim the onslaught by the soldiers was necessary and justified, then do so. That is your opinion. But trying to suggest lies like the above are truth will make you look silly the further investigations continue.

Millimeter by millimeter DSI and PTP are getting deeper and deeper into a situation where they will eventually have to find someone from the red side responsible.
