Gang assaulted as they re-enact crime

CHON BURI - Seven young men arrested for beating another man almost to death were abused and assaulted by his friends and relatives when they were taken to re-enact the crime.

Police said friends and relatives of Marut Utoksin, the 24-year-old victim, cursed and yelled at his attackers as police forced them to re-enact what happened last Saturday night at the crime scene.

The irate crowd eventually charged through the police line and began assaulting the seven men, according to a report in Daily News.

shocking and disgraceful behaviour from pretty much everyone except the victim of the original assault here, re enacting any crime is a recipe for disaster, and so it has proved in this case. And i definitely do think vigilante justice was merited in this case

Sadly humorous; the Thai police need to re-enact the crime. I’m looking forward to the re-enactment of this botched re-enactment.

So much for the myth that Thai people love peace, or are peaceful - a fantasy also flatly contradicted by the appalling murder and violent crime statistics for Thailand.

And what on earth is the reason for the absurd practice of "re-enacting" a crime? To bolster a dodgy confession obtained under duress?

Perhaps a little truth telling is long over due, were such a thing legal.

The re-enactment in front of friends and family serves what purpose? The police should be reprimanded for not providing security.

Does any other country in the world play-act a repeat of the crime? I remember a few years ago they took someone who had attacked a girl to re-enact the crime at Mor Chit and he was pulled to pieces by the crowd. At least it saved having a trial.

oh, he honked at them. so they felt bad. so the only recourse was to beat him to death. yes, that's thailand. what a country.

    Seven on one isn't fair.
These yahoos would be good candidates to be released on bail.
But, if they know what's good for them they should probably stay in jail.

It's very dangerous to honk your horn at another motorist when driving on Thai roads. Some people actually get shot.
