Red co-leader gets 1 year in jail

The Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced a leading member of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), Somchai Paiboon to, one year in jail without suspension.

Somchai, 41, a former Pheu Thai Party member of the Bang Bon district council in Bangkok, was charged with inciting unrest, illegal assembly and violation of the emergency decree in the UDD protests between March 12 and April 20, 2010.

    @TCR...Amazing as you say but:"Somchai said he would apply for bail, pending an appeal to a higher court." Next scenario for this guy is : Bail will be granted and paid with tax payers money,Higher court will never have to judge his case (referendum,charter changes,whitewashing).He will never serve his full sentence in jail .

    Finally, somebody went to jail for the riots and all the damage done to Bangkok. And no suspended sentence. Amazing.
