Double the fun on Koh Phangan

SURAT THANI: Koh Phangan is jumping this weekend to the one-two beat of New Year celebrations and the full-moon parties for which the southern island is famous.

Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to the crescent-shaped Haad Rin beach beneath the full moon on Friday night and partied until after dawn on Saturday.

Wannee Thaipanich, president of the Phangan Tourist Promotion Association, said the party went smoothly and there were no negative incidents. An estimated 80,000 holidaymakers attended the event, she said.

No zoo, phangan has enough wild animals why put them in a cage?? how would you like it??
you can watch the monkeys working - climbing tree and getting coconuts down! you ever see a monkey swim - same dog very funny and not in zoo in wild much better!
Thai people dont take care of animals just look at the elephants and monkeys in bars no good.

Glad to see that the tourist sector is up again. As third leg from Thailands economy they take have blown. First the red and yellow protests and then the flooding.

This year it seems realy go well and many stay away tourists seems to find their way back here.

    Happy NewYear to all

Actually I think most people would disagree with the above comment. Whether you or sad or not it doesn't effect the fact that most people who go to koh phangan have the best holiday of their lives. The whole experience in koh phangan is what makes tourism so popular and the locals make nearly all of their money from tourism, so everyone is happy. :)

Thailand should be proud of having created such an amazing place. It really is paradise.

Also, building a zoo, in my mind, is pointless, people wanna chill on the beach and go diving to see the wildlife, why put any more animals in cages.

I am think koh phangan should have the open zoo or aquarium like Siam Paragon to attract more Thai family. It make me sad to see island full of alcohol, drug and the rubbish everywhere, and now they are building airport there.
