Bangkok 'best city for nightlife'

Bangkok has topped the list of the ten best cities for excellent nightlife adventures for travellers, according to a survey by Agoda.com, a leading hotel booking site.

Agoda.com has just released the list of the top ten nightlife cities as chosen by its customers. With New Year’s Eve now upon us, these cities are perfect to ring in 2013, it said.

The results were based on feedback from over 113,000 respondents provided at the end of their stay in the cities. The Agoda.com customers rated the nightlife on a scale of 1-5, 1 being “poor”, and 5 being “excellent”. The top spot was taken by Bangkok, which Agoda.com called "Thailand’s energetic capital known for its tuk-tuks, temples and street food", followed by Dubai, the gleaming desert city in the United Arab Emirates, and Boracay/Caticlan in the Philippines, famous for its white sand beaches and swaying palm trees.

Be thankful for what you have got! Sure Sydney has the Opera House & plenty of sleazy places like Ley Girls, New York & London the Theater, most towns in the USA have sleazy strip clubs with girls running around half necked, check out Reno for example. Coming back to Gods Own "New Zealand" after spending 3 nights in Bkk "transit from CMX" was a breath of fresh air with clean manicured streets & gardens BUT I pine to be back in my 2nd Home in March, this time after 50 years of travailing back and forth I have moved my pension to Chiang Mai for Good. Just remember you get more bang for your buck.

Many posters complain that the nightlife in BKK mainly caters to sex tourists. Perhaps, but there are alot of sex tourists in this world, and their votes count just as much as everyone elses I suppose.
Some people judge the nightlife based on how fancy the nightclub looks, or how famous the DJ is, others just want girls and beer - nothing wrong with either imo!

I think the writer is missing something famous about Bangkok’s Night life other than "tuk-tuks, temples and street food". Can anyone answer what’s that??

One judges the nightlife, not only by the variety of activities, but also by the people who are involved. In my experience, the partakers in large segments of the nightlife in Bangkok and Pattaya are low-lifes. Pattaya, in particular is a freak-show of multi-national scum.

I lived in the UAE for 2 years and quite frankly just don't get how Dubai, ranks at all.

WHAT 'nightlife'??? I've lived here 15 years and Bangkok's ONLY nightlife is a few 'clubs' in Khao Saen aimed at the backpacker/young Thai With No Taste brigade or the plethora of seedy sting monger infested sois located in ALL sex tourist areas of the city. Has Thailand, the biggest brothel in the world, really no shame?

I have used Agoda, now exclusively, traveling globally for many years and have found them
to perform " Above and beyond " the call of duty.Their customer service staff could teach many other firms, not just travel related, how to keep clients satisfied and returning.
No, I have no interest, other than as a customer, in Agoda.

When did Bali become a city?

I am surprised that lots of people in this forum disagree with the statement that Bangkok is the best city for nightlife. Personally I think it is great and better than all other places which I visited before. I know a couple of people who visited many countries including almost all Asian countries and a good part of South America and many of them love the nightlife here and they retire here mostly for that reason.
Maybe the people who think the nightlife is so much better somewhere else like to elaborate what is so much better in other places.

People, when discussing Bangkok, often pass over or treat with disdain the lovely
PM "Blossoms" who, for many, make Bangkok what it is. We accept on a daily basis, all types of crimes including homicide but treat these lovely ladies as side show freaks as "SEX" including sexual aids, is taboo. This, in spite of the fact that Thailand produces it's own viagara generic,
licenses their work places, collects huge taxes from thinly disguised sexual service companies, for Thais and foreigners alike. Remove for a moment, if you can, the physical side and accept that the "Blossoms" appearance grace the drab city with their rare, exotic beauty.
