Phattalung villages hit hard

More than 3,500 families in Phatthalung’s five districts have been affected by flooding caused by rainstorms and mountain run-off triggered by last week’s monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand.

Many tambons in the five districts including Muang, Khuan Khanun, Si Nakharin, Si Banphot and Pa Bon were still covered by 50-70cm of water on Monday as a result of heavy overnight rain and mountain run-off from the Banthat mountain range.

Logs and masses of tree branches were reportedly swept along by the water run-off that inundated more than 50 village roads, making them impassable for small vehicles.
