NBTC: Thaksin's Ch11 speech OK

The live broadcast on Channel 11 featuring former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra at a boxing event in Macau last month was not illegal, according to a formal ruling by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

Col Natee Sukolrat, chairman of NBTC’s broadcasting committee, said the committee had examined the content of the programme and did not find it violate the Broadcasting Act 2008.

Thaksin gives a speech at a boxing event in Macau on Dec 9, 2012.

bikeme and democrazy, I missed the NBTC ruling that Nua Mek 2 cannot be aired, or that it is illegal, or that it is legal - or ANY statement at all by the NBTC, or the government for that matter. Can you give a pointer to where I can find that ruling by the NBTC? Or any agency at all? Thanks.

Interesting the a fugitive can speak freely on government sponsored channels, but a private TV channel can not air a soap opera that hints at the truth in our government. Slowly the grip gets tighter.

It might well be ok for his speech but the main point is even with his sister as PM has the UDD behind him he still can not come back to Thailand and with him doing this speeches like this is really not helping him to over this main point and Thaksin needs to understand this but he will never lean no matter how long we wait as he has and always will look for him self before other

What a whitewash, but did anyone expect anything different from an agency that is required to tow the government's line? TS is a convicted felon, how can it be right to allow him to broadcast anything on a state owned TV channel, it goes beyond reason. Thailand better get its act together before it is laughed out of the international community.
