Vientiane outlines plan to fight traffic

Officials in Vientiane are considering new measures to ease traffic congestion during rush hours as more vehicles take to the streets of the formerly sleepy Laos capital.

Short-term plans include a ban on parking cars on main roads, with no heavy trucks allowed downtown during the morning and evening rush hours, Vientiane Vice Mayor Keophilavanh Amphaylath told the Vientiane Times.

    Hopefully they will bring in experienced advisers from developed countries to help implement an effective traffic flow system and properly train traffic police right from the beginning.

    if it is anything like the feeble Thai attempts they will need a lot of Good Luck..or just ask the 2 people who tackled Bangkok's traffic with their 6 month attempts to sort it out..LOL
