BEIJING - Mask-wearing Beijing residents entered a fourth day of pollution at hazardous levels Monday, as authorities warned that a thick cloud of smog may not lift from the Chinese capital until midweek.

As the dense smog shrouded large swathes of northern China, flights were cancelled and traffic delayed as visibility was reduced to 100 metres in some areas.

An old problem that never been given an attention by the Chninese government. Thought it is not an issue to them as no measures adopted yet by their government to counter this pollution problem. Hope these smog will only settle at their door steps and not spread to other countries near them.

Look hard: increasingly a major political and military force in this region. It's now paying the price of unbridled and corrupt development. Thailand should proceed cautiously in its relationship with China. It's now looking to other countries as toxic dump sites.
