Riot at Carabao/Loso concert (videos)

Two rival groups of teenagers clashed on Monday night at a charity concert featuring music legends Ad Carabao and Sek Loso, forcing an abrupt and early end to the show, police said.

The "Light of Hope" concert was at the Port Authority of Thailand Stadium in Bangkok's Klong Toey district.

Police said the fight started around 10pm when a group of about 50 vocational students exchanged words with another group of local Klong Toey youths.

Oldthaihand: Put these kids in the slammer and they go in with a diploma in aggression and come out with a MA in advanced violence.

Just a general comment: What is the obsession with sending these kids to the south anyway?

Ploydonut...I could be totally wrong, but I've always felt that you were a falang inpersonating a Thai.

    Disc 18 and 19

You guys are bleeding heart milk-toasts. What these bums need is a good dose of scared straight. Throw them in the toughest nastiest prison in Thailand for 6 months. Then, draft them into the army and send them south. They're a collossal waste of space and of no use to the future of this country. I do however agree that their parents should be held accountable in some way, as well.
It's true that the education system has failed them. But, that being said, these type of 'lads' aren't interested in climbing out of the hole they're in and are too stupid and too lazy to realize that there are always alternatives.

"these educated teenagers should have behaved well," Mr Thanuwat said.

I bet not one of them can tell what 5% of 200 is, even if they use a calculator.

Dis# 18: Well said. One should always condemn violence like this but social stratification is very rigid in Thailand. In order to solve a problem one has to thoroughly understand the problem first and willing to accept the consequences.

Just cracking down on these gangs is just one part of the solution. Changing future perspectives for these gangs is another. This problem is deeply rooted in society and it takes time to change the mindsets of these children/ young adults.

Let's not talk about (football/soccer) hooliganism in W. Europe or Russia for that matter.

These young kids are the unwanted. Theyre part of a society that doesnt really want them. They have no place in a future that is only ment to be for the rich and famous. Theyre kept busy with vocational school and TV to give them some sense of belonging and purpose but they instinctively can feel they have no place in thailands future. So they rebell. Young males get into fights, jesus you all need to calm down. This happens everywhere, look how violent football games are in europe and the gang culture in the US compared to that Thailand is a playground.

You all need to get some perspective and stop mouthing off like some bitter old farts.

I do thinking that the type of music cause the people to fight. Carabao should play more soft music next time

"The younger Thai generation tends to use force and violence on a slightest provocation." Actually the vocational students have been fighting for decades now. It was a problem even in the 1970s. Obviously no one is very interested in putting an end to it.
