Two 'wanted' foreigners arrested

PHUKET – A French chef wanted in France on a charge of raping a disabled person has been arrested in Thailand because his visa had expired, police reported on Thursday.

Police said Verdino Christopher Pierri, 28, arrived in Thailand in October 2012. He worked as a chef at an Italian restaurant in Bangkok before moving to Phuket where he married a Thai woman.

The suspect was arrested at his home on Wednesday. Police have confirmed that he is the same person wanted on a warrant in France.

Do you mean those native speakers/white people who are not degree holders? As far as I know, they are just teaching speaking and listening. As long as you can communicate and understand English that would help, because the most important is the students can can practice to communicate foreigners using English. Even if you are a good teacher but if your students cannot understand its useless.

D: 5, that's what you know. maybe you don't often read news everyday that's why you missed all those crimes involving foreigners with drugs and a lot more. If you don't know yet, a lot of foreigners all over Thailand who are teaching in different schools especially in rural areas who are not qualified teachers. These teachers are just moving from other schools every time they are not renewed from their original schools as the ministry of education here allows foreigners to teach here for two years if you don't have the needed documents to prove that you are really teachers in that sense. Yes a i agree though that we should not generalize...

Thailand is a peaceful and safe country. Millions of people are coming here every year. And for me, it's impossible for the authorities to identify all of their backgrounds from their respective countries. Good that some these people who are hiding themselves from what they've done from their countries were arrested.

Thailand is just peaceful and safe compared to some other countries. Millions of people are coming here every year, so its impossible for the authorities to identify all of backgrounds from their respective countries. Specially if the come here as tourists.

Don't generalize and focus on what are the relatively few low-life class of Farang who make it into the news. Many more Farang here are legitimate, highly skilled professionals making good salaries, or owning businesses, all contributing significantly to the welfare of the country.

Personally, I don't know any sex tourists or unqualified English teachers. I do know lawyers, doctors, legitimate business owners, who employ many Thais, advertising account managers, media producers, university professors like myself, and international school teachers with graduate degrees in eduction.

Pierri arrived in October, worked in Bangkok, moved to Phuket and got married. He doesn't waste much time, does he?

D1, not sure we are living in the same country. Re-newing my driving license takes about 2 hours max and only every 5 years.

This makes me believe that Thailand tourist are mostly fugatives from their respective countries, others are sex tourist some are job seekers like english teachers but not actually qualified to teach just like me.

IF conducted it will make life so much easyer for couples like us to live in Thailand.
Foreign fraud and scams making immigration complying a daytime job, not to much of a hustlle when all papers are up to date but it keeps piling up.
A driverlicence renewal is a 2 day job and pendule trip between registartion and immigration these days.
