'Patriots' rally over Preah Vihear

Hundreds of members of the Thai Patriots Network rallied at the Royal Plaza on Monday morning, opposing the International Court of Justice's jurisdiction to make a ruling on the Thai-Cambodian dispute over Preah Vihear temple.

Chaiwat Sinsuwong, a leader of the rally, said the network had gathered up to 1.3 million names to back a petition rejecting the ICJ's jurisdiction over the issue.

The ICJ has accepted Cambodia's request to reinterpret its 1962 ruling, which awarded ownership of the temple to Cambodia but did not mention the disputed area immediately surrounding it.

    Disc 15 - If the court does find in Thailand's favor and uses the newer map you can be assured that Cambodia will quickly petition the court for the swift repatriation of the land they lost on the French produced map. That land would be in the thousands of Rai as the watershed north of the temple favors Thailand. These Zealots may in the end cost Thailand much more than Thailand would ever hope to gain.

    We can only surmise that they expect to lose. Why? Well because the weight of evidence would seem to suggest so. Seems a little premature though; what will they do if the court comes out in Thailands favour? Reject that as well?

    according to the Franco and Siam treaty of 1804 and 1807,it put the temple and the land surrounding the temple to cambodia. At that time, the King of Siam accepted the map and the treaty. Why two hundred years later, they still fighting about this?

    You can't even spell "patriot" without "riot".

    Hundreds, now that's a rally to be reckoned with. Zealots of any color are nut-cases. IMHO

    ... strange, no ones trying to blame Taksin for the International courts judgement. That makes a refreshing change.

    D#5 I would bet 1 for 50 based on the reasons as follows;
    1- ICJ ruling which is recognised by internationally, Cambodia must follow it
    2- Cambodia is fed up with wars, Cambodians wish to live in peace. The country was torn of wars
    3- poor equiped, trainded millitary forces
    4- Economically, politically, technologically strength (poor)....
    5- Cambodian are not motivated to go to war as they are in basic need, not war....

    Im sick and tired of all these protest/rally going on here. Why Thai people never learn to sit down and talk face to face to solve problems like this. I think Thai people are going backward to the 16th century....

    The army are wise to keep distance from these yellow "patriots".
