SRT: NE trains back running later today

Train services on the northeastern rail route, which had been halted by a railway crossing accident in Nakhon Ratchasima, were expected to resume sometime this afternoon after repairs to the track are completed, a State Railway of Thailand (SRT) official said on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at 7.05pm on Tuesday when special express train No 22 (Ubon Ratchathani - Bangkok) hit a pick-up truck at a railway crossing behind Wat Lak Roi temple in Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Boonsong Khianmai, 58, the pick-up truck driver, was killed.  Ten train passengers were slightly injured.

"...the crash barriers at the railway crossing were taken away about a week ago for repair and had not been put back in place"

So were there not any temporary ones put in place?

Do they really need crash barriers if they can afford not to have them for a period of time?

The answer is obviously yes, and potentially as a result, this has cost a man his life.

    Terrible logic.
