Chinese are top holiday spenders

The Chinese have overtaken the Germans as travel kings, as least in terms of the amount of money they spend while on holiday.

"China heads the list of world spending on vacation abroad," said tourist expert Martin Lohmann.

Tourists from China spent a total equivalent of around US$91 billion during travel abroad last year, said Lohmann. His statement was based on initial figures from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

“…the amount of money they spend while on holiday”.
“The figure includes both private holidays, short breaks and business trips”.

Nothing adds up here, holidays include business trips?
Both equals 3 kinds of travel?
    Double Dutch to me!

Yeah, billions, millions, same same, the jorno forgot to use his calculator, Thais and maths... On the other hand, the usefull information would have been to know the nationality of tourists spending the most PER CAPITA, guess it aren't the Chinese, but nowadays any 'news' putting China in a good daylight makes its way to the Thai newspapers, propaganda, or?

How about comparing the number of tourists from China and Germany? I suspect the Germans spent considerably more per person.

I was waiting for a flight out of LAX when I met this Chinese tourist group The more I spoke with them, the more I realized what great individuals the Chinese people really are. One of the things they told me is how much they had spent on gifts for relatives. Yes, very nice people.
