Anti-Russian mob in Phuket

An angry protest by taxi operators has forced the closure of a Russian-owned tourist business.

The protest against Alex Tour ended after a mob destroyed the signs of the business, and authorities closed it.

Taxi drivers alleged that Alex Tour is owned by Russians, and was supplying transportation to tourists from the Bang Tao area of Phuket - both illegal under Thai law if true.

So a Russian led tour agency provides more affordable transport and the local taxi mafia is up in arms.

Big deal. The authorities should crack down on the Thais ripping off tourists wholesale ASAP.

To be honest I am really surprised this has never happened in Pattaya as the tourists get well stitched up by the taxi drivers, ever heard the saying no meter, no meter, no meter,

Is it illegal for a foreign-owned company to conduct business in Thailand. Anybody knows?

So some russian got his bargirl and opened a business, maybe he should have picked a bar, then he could be bled by the cops. But a tourist business that is doing legit things, have to stamp this out. All the same Thailand, and the police acting honestly(now there's an oxymoron),should be very careful of any russian activity, ask the scandinavian countries, they are overun and can't deal with it at all.

Dose it matter if it is the Russian taxi Mafia or the Thai taxi Mafia it is still bad news for the tourists who suffers.
