Russian held over checkpoint rage

A Russian man broke through an immigration checkpoint and attacked officers in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo on Thursday, police say.

Pavel Iliukhin, 35, jumped over the checkpoint gate after leaving a queue where he was waiting to have his passport checked, officials said.

Immigration and customs officers chased him but he did not stop and tried to punch them, they said.

I hope he doesn't decide to go through JFK airport in New York, or LAX; then he will really know what waiting is all about!

I think he became "mentally ill " while waiting in line ! Several similar cases have occured at other Royal Thai Immigration Offices but I was sucessfully treated and released.

Honestly it's surprising that more situations like this do not occur at this border crossing. Waiting in line for 3 to 4 hours carrying all of your travel gear can drive anyone mad. Especially when there are at least two border agents sitting there doing nothing in the Thai national lanes. It's the worst managed border crossing I've ever had the displeasure of using. It's an awful introduction to Thailand.

    Wait-too-long in line rage.
