A woman accused of running an online scam selling Furby electronic robot toys was released on bail on Friday evening, reports said.

The Criminal Court agreed to release Chonnikant Taichilasasoontorn, 27, on bail of 1.7 million baht put up by her father.

The woman stands accused of using a 16-year-old girl to post advertisements on Instagram offering the furry toys for 2,990 baht each.

The scandal is not the rip off, as most of today's commercial society is exactly that.

The scandal is a society where a small group of people can throw money away for meaningless gadgets and toys while some people earn that much in a month of hard labor.

The gaps between the super rich, the well off and the poor is far too big.

No Publicity is bad publicity. So the more this "scam" gets in the papers, online, social mediam TV etc, the more kids (people?) will be curious and maybe want one.

Then BP puts a free add in its article, "The Toys 'R' Us chain in Thailand was offering Furbys at 3,995 baht on Wednesday, according to its Facebook page."

Amazing that the toy companies have run the ‘Furby’ scam not once, but three times, in the past 14 years or so. 200 baht’s worth of components for 3,995? Scandalous.
