Cold spell, drought hit provinces

A total of 14 provinces hit by severe cold weather have been declared emergency disaster zones, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Saturday.

Nearly four million people in these provinces were being affected, it said.

The provinces are Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang, Lamphun, Phrae, Nan, Tak, Uttaradit, Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Mukdahan and Phetchabun.

    instead of the elite in pt wanting to invest tax payer money, if there is any left, into other mega pojects in their neighbors soil ? how about investing in buliding dams to feed the local farmers and local comunities,or is it not worth while for the broker ?

    Could the main reason for typically frequent declarations of whole provinces emergency disaster zones –due to both floods and droughts- be the key to getting a cash flow trickle its way down from Bangkok into the provinces? Who might profit from this, the people?

    drought in 33 provinces let when they want to build a dam people get up in arms about it. We need more dams in this country. The wild life can survive if they stop illegal logging and you would have more forest area. Wise up you people.
