Ekayuth sues Khamronwit

Prominent businessman Ekayuth Anchanbutr on Tuesday filed a defamation lawsuit with the Criminal Court against Pol Lt-Gen Khamronwit Thoopkrachang, the Metropolitan Police Bureau chief, six other individuals and Matichon newspaper over a row at a karaoke bar on Dec 20 last year.
The six other individuals named in the suit are Pol Maj-Gen Anuchai Lekbamrung and Pol Maj-Gen Adul Narongsak, deputy metropolitan police chiefs, Pol Maj-Gen Naiyawat Padermchit, the Metropolitan Police Division 4 commander, Pol Col Thanawat Watanakul, the Chok Chai police chief, Jatuporn Mangkornthong, deputy manager of Karaoke City Co, and Vorasak Prayoonsuk, the editor of Matichon newspaper.
In the lawsuit, Mr Ekayuth states that early on Dec 21, 2012, Pol Lt-Gen Khamronwit, the four other police officers, and Mr Jatuporn held a press conference accusing him and other men in his group of intimidating and assaulting employees of the karaoke bar in Chok Chai area following a row over the payment of service charges on Dec 20.
