Kamnan Poh probe extended

Police in charge of finding who helped the fugitive "godfather of Chon Buri" Somchai Khunploem evade justice need another 15 days to wrap up the investigation, Crime Suppression Division (CSD) chief Pol Maj Gen Supisarn Phakdinaruenart said Tuesday.

The investigation team could not finish the report in the time allotted because they had not received information from Samitivej Srinakarind Hospital, Pol Maj Gen Supisarn said.

Investigators are looking into who aided Somchai, better known as Kamnan Poh, in his six-year flight from arrest after conviction on murder and corruption charges. Suspects include Somchai's relatives and state officials.

Discussion#4 Wait... wait...I'm getting a distinct image of Thailand...Yes I see cherubs, [white skinned] smiling and leaping gaily among the lotus blossoms while holding iphone5s. No children are being tortured at all and some [dark skinned] people wearing rags are wai-ing a man in flowing robes as he tosses 500 baht notes into the rapturous crowd [some of them not even Thai!] Don't worry, the image is still intact.

It seems the Nation already had a partial look at Kamnan Poh's medical records. In their 1 Feb issue, the Nation has the kamnan visiting Samitivej Hospital twenty times since hospitalization on April April 22-27, 2012. The article gives the dates and the treatments given. I would think the Police would use the Nation article to support their request for a court warrant.

    .

People, the man is 78 years old, A few more days to live.

I see his bad, I remember his good, especially by Nong Mon people, a sleepy little town on the way to Pattaya, now booming.

    Rest, Khamnan !

Who will be the poor soul presented as scapegoat to the public? Driver, nurse, gardener, maid...

The police should publish a list of criteria what would be evidence enough to prove that someone aided and abetted the fugitive. After these criteria are well defined then all people around him, his neighborhood, his relatives, government officials, etc. can be checked against that list. Then it can’t happen that maybe a nurse is found guilty and a police officer not. But that is of course not going to happen in Thailand.
And about the relatives: Maybe it is not illegal if a family member helps a murderer. But should these people not step down from their posts? Or are they not damaging the image of Thailand, Mr. Culture Minister?

The CSD should investigate the Chonburi Police Department. I make a bet on the holy book they knew exactly what was going on and tactically approved this and shut their eyes collectively. Com'on BIB stop pretending everybody knows you are doing damage control. And for the close family, they are protected by the law, look it up, I did.

  • Discussion 2 : 19 Feb 2013 at 23.032

And the last people they will ask about who has been hiding him? His family..

  • Discussion 1 : 19 Feb 2013 at 22.551

Time for what? To whitewash all the evidence? Thailand you are a pathetic lot.
