Nearly 400 dogs at Nakhon Phanom's animal quarantine centre have been moved to Buri Ram province to relieve congestion in the dog pound over the approaching hot season. The move will also free up space for more dogs.
Veterinarian Khwanjai Kaewkhampha of the Nakhon Phanom quarantine said soldiers transported 400 dogs on two trucks to the quarantine centre in Bang Kham district of Buri Ram yesterday. The dogs had earlier been rescued from smugglers, and were in good health.
The relocation reduces the number of dogs at the Nakhon Phanom quarantine centre to about 500. The veterinarian said if the facility was congested during the hot season, dogs would fall ill.
