Man killed for queue jumping

A man was killed by two teenagers after he cut into a queue to get food for his child at a religious ceremony in Chiang Mai province on Sunday, police said.

Pol Col Suchart Kan-ngen, of Chiang Mai police, said the victim was named as Mon Lungpan, aged 43, from Shan state in Myanmar.

On Sunday morning, Mon took his wife and child to a merit-making ceremony held at a temple in Chiang Mai's Mae Taeng district.

    D 31 re;police

I'd imagine they do little as they do not perceive making money from arresting the teenagers. To compound this they may very well feel no allegiance to helping a poor migrant worker. I've heard many a case of a Thai needing police help in a crime but police do not care, unless they get some cash motivation.

Life is very cheap in Thailand, this must change, if people took their bhuddist faith seriously instead of worshipping money this would not happen. Hopefully this is not how the vast majority behave, but why are the two felons still wandering around, they could do it again to some other unsuspecting soul. One should have respect for any family, just walk away rather than murder a father in front of his son. Two young men with a beer in hand really don't need food all that much.

crimes like this can happen everywhere around the world, but what makes me wonder about this story is the reaction of the policemen. They know the whereabout of the killers, but for no other reason than to gather more witnesesses and invesigate, caused them not to arrest those killers... can an investigation possibly turn this crime to be suicide or are there some witnesess from Bangkok or Pattaya which they would like to interview??? wow..most comments seemed are implying the obvious...

I assume english is not your native language language. My statement is a sarcastic condemnation of recently come to light horrific abuses against burmese people in thailand. If Chinese do not respect queues then it is poor behavior in China also. Would you suggest queu breaking in Thailand is therefore Chinese thinking?

Loyhasip D28 I could not agree with you more. The tragedy is the fact an innocent child will grow up without his dad, a life ended so needlessly and brutally.
And I too wonder why so many posters here are so quick to criticize and discredit all Thai's on the back of the criminal actions of a few. And second to that why do they feel the need to stay in a country so full of alleged cheating criminals. Kudos for your comment loyhasip D28. I fully agree

A large portion of the posts on this subject totally disgust me.
A man has been brutally murdered in front of his young son, at a temple and the general consensus appears to be "let's talk bad about the entire population of Thailand". Where is the compassion for the innocent man who has lost his life, the poor poor boy who has lost his father and the wife who has lost a husband, to bring up her son alone?
25 posts and not a mention of any of this!!!!
Farangs in Thailand - why are you here?

A totally disgusting comment - amazed that BP allowed your post. Very, very good indication of your level.

    Disc 13 Bkk-farang,
Totally agree - like anywhere else, not all Thais are good people and, as you say, some are very aggressive. But no more so than many places around the world. You state that this is not the "norm" but then say "because this is 'Common Behavior' it is part of “Thainess”.????

"Pol Col Suchart said police knew the whereabouts of the two teenagers and were gathering more evidence and witnesses before seeking arrest warrants."

Kind of like police know where the couple that tortured Air is and won't do anything? Sad.

so very shy as to even reprimand people with such behavior. I have been plauded by Thais on BTS and MRT for speaking my mind. People nod their heads to say they agree. I am not shy to inform people where the queu starts. Impatience of spoiled children at times but subsequently return to "sabai sabai" speed. Theres many nice people also.
