Poll: Thais think lottery is rigged

A majority of people who buy lottery tickets believe the draw is fixed, according to the conclusions of a Nida Poll revealed on Wednesday.

The pollsters at the National Institution of Development Administration (Nida) surveyed 1,256 people throughout Thailand about their lottery-purchasing behaviour and for their views on whether the national lottery is rigged or not.

They reported that 50.24% of respondents thought the winning numbers were fixed because the same "doubles" and "triples" (for example 22 and 222) are frequently the winning numbers, but others thought differently, saying that the live broadcast of the lottery draw showed its transparency.

Every lottery, everywhere, is rigged in the sense that the perenial winner, ultimately, is the govt. a big winner everytime. It is a global fact that the least able, financially, buy the most tickets so the lottery which is "GAMBLING" is actually illegal and should be banned !

Sure it is fixed. If it is not fixed, the drawing would be broadcasted by TV, like other lotteries do, in which one can follow the mixing of the numbered balls, the random movement of the robotic arm grabbing one out of the swinging balls inside the drum, and placing it onto a cushion (just like they do it in the German lottery 6 out of 49 every Saturday). Why not in Thailand? Why do they hide the drawing?
