Polar bears, sharks on Cites' menu

Increased trade protection for polar bears and sharks are on the agenda of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (Cites) next week in Bangkok, officials said Thursday.

"We expect proposals on polar bears, sharks and manta rays will go to a vote," convention secretary general John Scanlon said.

The Cites meeting, which is to begin Sunday and run through to March 14, is drawing more than 2,000 delegates from 177 countries.

For those who want to deprive others from the pleasures of eating shark's fin and proposing to preserve sharks in order to dive amongst sharks.. may I suggest you go on a diving trip to beautiful Venezuela and dive amongst the cute pirahnas in gorgeous, pristine freshwater rivers.

Ban shark fishing as they are more valuable alive than dead as divers pay a lot of money to dive amongst sharks.... Thai dive industry is hoping than TDA Diving Association (Thailand), PADI, NAUI, SSI will be present to protect loudly our dive industry in Thailand.
