Venezuela's Chavez dies

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez lost his battle with cancer Tuesday, silencing the leading voice of the Latin American left and plunging his divided oil-rich nation into an uncertain future.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez salutes from a balcony of the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas on July 28, 2011. Chavez died Tuesday, Vice President Nicolas Maduro announced, shortly after Caracas revealed that the cancer-stricken leftist icon was suffering from a severe infection.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro, who struggled to hold back tears as he announced Chavez's death, said the government had deployed the armed forces and police "to accompany and protect our people and guarantee the peace."

Chavez has done only marginally better for his people then Nigeria, with both countries having vast oil reserves. With such oil wealth and population the people of Venezuela deserved much more out of someone whose own people seemed to back him but got very little in return, sounds familiar!

His government without him must find out who and what country actually gave him this disease. It was too late he could have come to Thailand and had learned to live with cancer very happily. He could have rest in peace long time ago but he was so beloved won reelection while fighting cancer. Now time to rest in peace Mr. President.
