Plodprasop pushes for 'master map'

Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi revealed Monday he was pushing ahead with a plan for a master map of Thailand for use in detailing the government’s 350 billion baht water management projects.

Mr Plodprasop was speaking at a seminar in Bangkok on guidelines for the establishment of a geo-information system and a master map for development.

The seminar, organised by the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency and the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board, was attended by officials from a range of agencies including the Royal Thai Survey Department and the Royal Forest Department.

Why not use Google maps online. They are free and probably more accurate.

I can't help wonder that if this PT government would of signed up with NASA on their request to do a climate study using U-Tapao air base, the Americans would of have gladly given Thailand every 'master map' one could possibly imagine, in every scale, in every format, using their satelite technology. But no, the PT government, Plodprasop included, had to dismiss the Americans, and then later tried to dictate his terms to NASA, unaware that NASA already did their study using another country.

That's a big loss of face, Plodprasop. But is he man enough to admit it?

Cart horse, horse cart, who knows here anymore. Basic Civil Engineering teaches critical path which at its lowest level includes rudimentary steps in the formation of a plan, things like...well, a map.

So go out and buy a damn map. There are plenty available that do not require tea money to get. I will also guarantee that they are far more accurate then what this group of thieves will purchase/produce.

Actually there already are many maps or plans for any type of works in the whole of Thailand prepared by or kept in various agencies, except that all are treated as 'master plan' in their own rights.

The "NASA Climate Study"" project, rejected by all and sundry here would probably integrated well into this "Master Map" plan as valuable supplementary data... Shame...

Amazing Thailand . Borrow 350 Billion under an emergency provision loop hole and now, one year later, someone remembers there is no plan to cover what they have already spent or pledged so now the grand plan will be written. Note the slippery little line about including City Planning so someone will get what they want to build their new house/ condo/ business.

When will Thai people say enough, aren't they sick of being done over everyday.

A 'master map', eh? To report all elements of the 'master plan' on, eh? BIG news, didn't have that until now, did you? Quite odd, but can't think about everything, hmm. Oh, the 'master' didn't ask for that, did he? Is there actually a plan of the 'master', and what is it about? Ah, OK, business as usual, got a list of accounts to put money on then, did you?
