CHICAGO - US President Barack Obama flew 947 kilometers alone in his 747 from Washington to Chicago, to deliver a speech on saving energy.

Envisioning cars that can go "coast to coast without using a drop of oil," Mr Obama urged Congress to authorise spending $2 billion over the next decade to expand research into electric cars and biofuels to wean automobiles off gasoline.

Mr Obama, expanding on an initiative he addressed in his State of the Union speech last month, said the United States must shift its cars and trucks entirely off oil to avoid perpetual fluctuations in gas prices. Citing policies that already require automakers to increase gas mileage, he said he expects that by 2025, Americans will only have to fill up their cars half as often.

The USA has the largest NG reserves in the World about 100+years @ current rates of usage.

The USA has the largest hydrated methane deposits about 500+years worth.

The USA uses coal to produce OVER 40% of it electricity.

Qatar is now making jet fuel out of NG.

Instead of converting their vehicles to NG, Obama is pushing electric vehicles. Which use 'rare earths' supplied by China & depend on COAL generated electricity.

EVERYONE should try to CONSERVE energy/resources & DECREASE their enviromental footprint...

President Obama is like politicians everywhere. They make promises they don't keep and are hypocritical by nature. He also passed a national health care plan (named after him "Obamacare")
But he and the other politicians who voted for it are not covered by it. They have the "Goldcare" plan. Goldcare is a coined phrase meaning a much better plan than Obamacare. Waste energy to encourage saving it is this article's view at that hypocrisy. Ever hear of televised speeches Mr. President?

Alone? What no secret service, advisors, the man with the codes in the football, doctors etc etc, he is never alone.

The US dollar is backed un-officially by oil, so it's highly unlikely that this story is even remotely close to what's presented.
