Nakhon Phanom 'happiest' province

Residents of Nakhon Phanom, Phichit, Trang, Chaiyaphum and Krabi are the happiest people in the country, according to a National Statistical Office (NSO) survey. The NSO surveyed the happiness level of 80,000 participants aged above 15 nationwide last year.

Residents of Samut Songkhram, Samut Prakan, Sa Kaeo, Phuket and Nong Khai registered the lowest level of happiness.

Bangkok residents ranked 65th out of 76 provinces, down from 59th in 2009.

Goes to show that money can't buy you happiness. The happiest provinces aren't what you call economic powerhouses and at the same time probably have the a largely aging population. Maybe Krabians have the best seaviews to wake up with. Goes to show how moderation in what you have (and also politically) and how you live you life is key to a happier life.

One would have thought that all the rich and more well-off people (the 'Elites') are mostly living in BKK, so with that much of money and some even with power, they should come 1st as the most happiest people in Thailand (if not the world). Unfortunately not so ah. I wonder why?
