I commented on the Guernsey couple who had travelled across the world to meet there tragic end here in this way.Ive just returned from the Chong Mek border in my Truck and again i seen accidents that literally made me think just unbelievable. One car left the road,3meters down in the ploughed field but 200yards up on a bank on its roof. And then at the top of the mountains on the Kabin buri side outside a policebox a 24 wheeler on its side with salt everywhere. As for the unreal driving i yet again witnessed,it does not surprise me of the carnage on these roads. And to top it no Highway Police.Maybe to hot for them, better in thier air-con box.

Anyone who takes to cycling on Thai roads needs to be aware of the very high risk to their life.

this is gruesome, a story that only happens in a country such as Thailand. When will the Thai value life? Why no one ever reported to the police when they saw the accident.?

Likely run over by one of two large 24 wheeler trucks with drivers high as a kite on uppers.

26,000 traffic deaths per year. What can we say about Thai drivers. Cannot stop. Cannot slow down. Must pass!

is the photo of the man pointing at bits of intestine on the road really needed??

or the (pix) in the description of the link to the story..?

Does the BP think that no one would want to read the story without the pics? i appreciate these are a lot less graphic than you would see on thai news whilst sitting down to eat your rice.. but still a bit sick really..

Upcountry they rarely wear crash helmets on motorbikes and die at such a high rate on the roads that I don't see why anybody can be surprised by this.

The other cars probably thought they were running over a dead dog.

    Land of smiles indeed.

Third cyclist killed in the same area .Will the police look for the car which probably took serious damage by the way the the poor guys body exploded .People get in their cars and they think they are insulated form reality and that no one can see them .Use your phone camera and record this shameful behavior for all to see .Disgusting .We talk about the rich getting away with everything and how bad it is and here we have a car driver with the same poor narrow minded thinking.Stop living in ignorance and start paying attention to world around you .

It is a tragedy and yes Thai drivers sometimes drive reckless. On the other hand where I stay there are many foreign cyclists that don't use commonsense, they cycle on very narrow roads and many times side by side, as well as at sunset.

As someone that cycles several thousand Kim's here per year I can share my experience with Thai attitudes once they have actually knocked you over. They simply don't care as they assume a cyclist is poor. My bike costs more than many cars at well in excess of USD 10k. But they judge cyclists by their narrow minds.

One time I was T boned and seriously hurt. The Thai male driver did not care and laughed. Once the obligatory 20 other Thais came to aid he was safe. I took him to the police station but they took pity on him as I did not need his money!
