Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwannatat called a meeting with national army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha and commanders of the armed forces on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the situation in the deep South, reports said.
The defence meeting follows the second round of peace talks between the National Security Council and the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) separatist movement on Monday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The reports said ACM Sukumpol and the military officials would discuss ways to deal with expected violence after government officials rejected all of the BRN's five demands.
