Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom has told outraged farmers that it is impossible to restore the rice pledging price to 15,000 baht per tonne because the cabinet has already resolved to reset the price at 12,000 baht.
He said the government had decided to limit farmers to 500,000 baht worth of rice under the scheme with immediate effect.
The government wanted to assist small farmers, he said. Farmers with more rice than that would have sell on the open market.
