The inspector-general of the Royal Thai Police Office has been assigned to set up a fact-finding panel to look into Pol Lt Gen Khamronwit Thoopkrachang's alleged breach of ethics in going to Hong Kong to meet fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, police chief Adul Saengsingkaew said on Tuesday.
Pol Gen Adul said he had received a letter from the Ombudsman asking him to investigate whether the Metropolitan Police Bureau chief had breached police ethics.
The Ombudsman looked into this matter after receiving a complaint from the Green Politics Group, and subsequently asked the police chief to take action.
