Thai stocks rose 1.4% on Friday, bucking the trend in Asia where many markets fell on growing concerns about China's economy.
However, the Stock Exchange of Thailand gained back less than half the ground it had lost on Thursday, when the main index fell 44 points amid fear of political unrest when a contentious amnesty bill is debated next month.
The SET Index on Friday rose 20.03 points to close at 1,476.71, a decrease of 0.3% from the previous Friday's close of 1,481.84. Turnover was modest at 44.18 billion baht, with 9.2 billion shares traded.
