KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia has stripped a Singaporean of his permanent resident visa for allegedly allowing a group of Buddhist tourists to pray in the Muslim prayer room of his beach resort.
Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said his office revoked the residency status of the 45-year-old man "with immediate effect" for not respecting religious sensitivity.
Zahid said he hoped it would served as lesson to other foreigners "to abide by the law or lose the privilege".
