The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the dismissal of a defamation case filed by former police chief Sant Sarutanont against Sondhi Limthongkul and Sarocha Porn-udomsak in 2003.
In the lawsuit, Pol Gen Sant accused Mr Sondhi and Ms Sarocha, who co-hosted a weekly television programme Yam Fao Pan Din aired on Channel 9 in 2003, of defaming him by saying that he had failed to take responsibility for problems with the investigation into the alleged murder of billionaire businessman Hangthong Thammawattana, an MP of the now-defunct Prachakorn Thai Party.
The Criminal Court dismissed the case on the grounds the two were just doing their job as representatives of the media when they criticised the work of Pol Gen Sant. The decision was upheld by the Appeals Court.
