Murder suspect slain in Songkhla

One of the suspects in the murder of a mayor of Songkhla municipality was shot dead in front of his home on Sunday night, police said.
Pol Lt Weerawat Leksut, an investigator at Ranot police station in Songkhla, said he received a report about 7pm that former village headman Athip "Yom" Duangmak, aged 58, had been killed.
Yom was one of the 10 suspects in the murder of Peera Tuntiseranee, who was at the time mayor of Songkhla municipality. Peera was slain on Nov 7 last year in a drive-by shooting believed to be rooted in local political conflict.
