Rubber farmers protesting against the low rubber price on Tuesday morning blocked the railway at Ban Toon intersection in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Cha-uat district, halting the southern train service system.
Three Bangkok-bound trains - the Sungai Kolok-Bangkok express, Sungai Kolok-Bangkok rapid train and Yala-Bangkok sprinter train - had to return to park at Hat Yai junction, after being unable to pass through the blockade in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The Eastern & Oriental Express, an international train service from Singapore to Butterworth and Bangkok, also had to stop at Hat Yai railway station.
