About 200 state teachers hired on yearly contracts rallied outside Government House on Tuesday, calling for the government to increase their monthly pay to the promised minimum of 15,000 baht, with four-year contracts for each extension, and eventual upgrade to full state employee status.
The teachers, who gathered at gate No 5, said some of them receive as little as 5,000 baht a month.
The ruling Pheu Thai Party had promised during the election campaign to guarantee a minimum wage of 15,000 baht per month for people with a bachelor's degree. They wanted the government to fulfil its promise.
