Elderly woman gets 3 years in jail

The Appeals Court on Thursday reduced the jail sentence of a 74-year-old woman convicted of causing the death of a young man by electrocution and growing krathom plants with intent to sell.
The woman,Thongdee Jaemsri, 74, was in 2011 sentenced to three years and four months in prison by the Criminal Court which found her guilty of causing the death of Maropi Langmae, a 20-year-old college student.
The Appeals Court agreed to reduce her sentence to to three years.
Mrs Thongdee had electrified the fence with a current of 200 volts around her home in Bangkok's Lat Phrao district to prevent people trespassing after several burglaries.
