Flood death toll rises to 39

More than 3.5 million residents of 14,782 villages in 304 districts across 42 provinces have been affected by flooding since Sept 17, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, reported on Friday.
The department confirmed that the national death toll from the floods rose to 39 as of Friday morning, with 12 deaths in Surin, nine each in Prachin Buri and Si Sa Ket, two each in Nakhon Nayok and Yasothon, and one each in Sa Kaeo, Khon Kaen, Chanthaburi, Nakhon Sawan and Lopburi.
Official figures obtained from residency rolls said floodwaters had caused damage to 29,289 houses, 3,259,760 rai of farmland, 5,714 roads, 299 bridges, 260 schools, 442 temples and 61 state office buildings.
