A glass door shattered at the UOB bank branch in Rat Burana district of Bangkok early Tuesday, sparking a false alarm of an intruder in the building.
The alarm was recorded at Ratbura police station in the early hours. Police and a rescue team rushed to the bank, which occupies a four four-storey shophouse on Pracha Uthit road.
They found pieces of a shattered glass door on the footpath, but there was no sign of an intrusion, according to Pol Capt Suthirat Orathai, case officer at Rat Burana police station.
The police reviewed footage from the close-circuit camera in front of the bank and noticed that the glass door changed colour to milky white and then started to break up about 20 minutes later. There were no suspiciously acting people in the vicinity at the time.
Police suspect low quality glass may have been installed during a renovation two months ago.
