A construction worker arrested in Chon Buri has allegedly confessed that his gang murdered a man in Udon Thani.
Police said the worker was hired by the victim's wife to kill her husband because of his affair with another woman.
Vijit Mangsa-udom, 29, from Udon Thani, and Banthom Pangtui, 39, from Sakon Nakhon were caught Wednesday at a construction site in Chon Buri's Bo Thong district. Mr Vijit confessed that his gang members had been hired by Bang-on Sakhon for 150,000 baht to kill Sawat Sakhon, 44, on Oct 15 after the woman found out that her husband had financially supported his minor wife, police said.
Police detained Mrs Bang-on and Banthom Pangtui, who was believed to be a driver for the hitman.
According to Mr Vijit's confession, Ms Bang-on had contracted him to kill her husband by paying 30,000 baht in advance. They later plotted to kill the victim, with Ms Bang-on opening the house door for Mr Vijit to shoot her sleeping husband.
Mr Vijit said he shot the victim in the leg with a shotgun and dragged him outside before beating him to death. Ms Bang-on said she did not want her husband to die in the house, according to Mr Vijit's confession.
