Suporn Atthawong, the prime minister's deputy secretary-general and a core member of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), has asked Abhisit Vejjajiva and Suthep Thaugsuban to resign as MPs.
He said former prime minister Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep, former deputy prime minister and director of the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES), should show good political etiquette by resigning as members of the House of Representatives since the prosecution has indicted them in the Criminal Court for their roles in the 2010 political violence.
After resigning as MPs, the two could fully perform their duties as leaders of street protests being held in Bangkok and elsewhere, Mr Suporn added.
