Police released 28 seized elephants back to a kraal in Kanchanaburi's Sai Yok district on Friday after their owner presented correct registration papers for the animals.
The elephants were seized from the Mahawang camp in tambon Wang Kra-jae by the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Suppression Division on Aug 29.
More than 30 officers, including the division's deputy commander Buncha Panpradap, Kanchanaburi deputy governor Boonyapat Chatara-urai and forestry and livestock personnel, yesterday examined the elephants' registration documents presented by owner Sathika Peng-jam, 49.
The officers found that all the documents were correct and in order, so they decided to scrap the seizure order and release the elephants.
