The Rockefeller Foundation and Resource Alliance are accepting applications for the “Thailand NGO Awards 2014” until May 20. Held for the fourth year, the awards identify examples of innovation in local resource mobilisation, effective programming, financial management and practice of NGOs that have created sustainable development and improved the lives of people in Thailand and the Southeast Asia region. Nearly 300 applications have been received across the country over the past three years, including non-profits focused on improving the lives of vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, the disabled and children living in poverty, as well as those working to protect the environment and the rights of consumers. Each year, 12 organisations receive awards, with three named the “Thailand NGO of the Year” in three categories — small (annual revenue under two million baht), medium (annual revenue of two-10 million baht) and large (annual revenue of more than 10 million baht). Last year’s recipients were the Phitsanuloke Public Welfare Volunteers Association (small), the Association for the Development of Environmental Quality (medium) and the Foundation for Slum Child Care (large). Each recipient will receive a trophy, cash prize, and will be recognised at the Thailand NGO Awards ceremony in Bangkok in September.
