THAI kicks off new share offer campaign
B15bn target for use in business expansion
Thai Airways International (THAI) is ready to launch a public offering to raise 15 billion baht to boost its financial standing and support business expansion.
The offering of 1 billion new shares is taking place as the flag carrier plans to set up a 51:49 joint venture with Singapore-based Tiger Airways to create a low-cost carrier in Thailand.
The formation of Thai Tiger Airways (TTA), which has been strongly opposed by the Transport Ministry and senior members of Thailand's aviation industry, may affect interest in the public offering.
